Nothing has unveiled plans to introduce its new Phone 2A to the market on March 5th, as revealed in a promotional video released today. The company has also made it clear that the device will be launched in the United States through a “Developer Program,” rather than a traditional, broad market rollout. Details regarding the Phone 2A’s specifications, design, and price remain under wraps until the official launch event next month, which is scheduled for 11:30 AM GMT (6:30 AM ET), as confirmed by the company on X.
This approach mirrors the strategy employed for the debut of Nothing’s inaugural Phone 1, which was made available in the US via a “Beta Membership.” This program required participants to contribute $299 to gain early access to the device for testing purposes. On the other hand, the Phone 2 saw a more conventional launch in the US market last year. Although it was not sold directly by any carriers and lacked Verizon certification, it was fully compatible with the networks of T-Mobile and AT&T.
While Nothing has not officially stated that the Phone 2A will serve as a budget-friendly version of the Phone 2, hints towards a more cost-effective pricing strategy were subtly suggested in the recent video. A pointed question regarding the company’s strategy to lower the cost of the upcoming phone was posed, with Nothing CEO Carl Pei playfully refraining from disclosing any specific pricing information.
