Exciting updates are in store for subscribers of the Samsung Care Plus program, as the company has announced significant enhancements set to roll out in May 2024. The Samsung Care Plus program, designed to offer comprehensive protection for your Galaxy smartphone or tablet, is becoming even more valuable for its users.
For those new to Samsung Care Plus, it’s a premium service plan that protects the standard manufacturer’s warranty. Subscribers benefit from unlimited repairs for accidental damage like drops and spills, mechanical failures, and, depending on the specific plan chosen, theft protection. The service plans are available for purchase within 60 days of acquiring a new eligible Galaxy device and offer varied coverage at monthly rates ranging from approximately $10 to $18 over 36 months.
Enhanced battery coverage
The most notable upgrade to the Samsung Care Plus program is the introduction of unlimited battery repairs, including for batteries that have degraded over time. Previously, the program limited battery replacements to a single instance of mechanical failure. Now, if diagnostic tests show your Galaxy device’s battery capacity has fallen below 79%, you’ll qualify for free battery repairs. This benefit is available under both the Theft and Loss and the standard Samsung Care Plus plans, ensuring your device maintains its peak performance for longer.
Battery services can be conveniently accessed either through walk-in repairs or by mail, providing flexibility for users. While it remains to be clarified if “repairs” explicitly include complete battery replacements, the initiative marks a significant improvement in coverage. However, eligibility for this service requires that the device has no additional external damage.
Plan adjustments
Accompanying this enhancement in service, there will be a slight increase in the monthly cost of Samsung Care Plus plans. Starting from the May billing cycle, subscribers will see a $2 rise in their plan’s price. Samsung has indicated that continuing the subscription past May 1st will be considered acceptance of the new terms. For subscribers not wishing to continue under the new pricing, options to cancel the plan without penalty are available by reaching out to a Samsung Care Plus representative.
This initiative complements Samsung’s recent efforts to improve battery longevity, including the introduction of advanced battery health management features in their One UI 6.1 update. Together, these moves underscore Samsung’s dedication to enhancing the user experience and extending the lifespan of Galaxy devices, affirming the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and device sustainability.
