Despite the overwhelming success, Larian Studios has faced significant challenges due to the extensive number of award ceremonies they need to attend. In an interview with EDGE magazine (issue #400), CEO Swen Vincke expressed that the frequent ceremonies caused a workflow disruption:
“It affects development – there’s a lot of them. This has been a real problem. We had to rotate teams so that different people went to different award shows. It would be cool if everybody could agree to do it all at the same time because it is surprisingly draining on the soul.”
Now, Larian Studios has almost moved on from Baldur’s Gate 3, opting not to create a sequel or even DLCs. The team is leaving the Forgotten Realms behind to focus on new original projects. They have already opened a new office in Warsaw, Poland, to support their growth.
However, Larian is still committed to delivering a final update for Baldur’s Gate 3, which will include the official modding tools. The Alpha started last month, with the Beta expected later this month in September. In response to the community’s request, the game will also see improvements to its evil endings.
Stay tuned as Larian Studios continues to innovate and push the boundaries of the gaming industry with their upcoming projects.
