Bucharest, October 9, 2024 – Romanian carmaker Dacia, a member of the Renault Group, has officially unveiled its new Bigster model, marking a significant step into the C-SUV segment. The all-new Bigster is designed to cater to the most demanding customers, offering a range of premium features such as two-tone body colour options and 19-inch wheels.
The Bigster concept, first introduced in 2021, has now become a reality, and the latest model, produced in Romania, is 23 cm longer than the Duster 3. It comes equipped with new engines and boasts a spacious interior, making it an ideal choice for those seeking both performance and comfort.
Meeting C-SUV Customer Expectations
Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia, emphasized the company’s commitment to the C-SUV market:
“Today with Bigster, Dacia meets more than ever C-segment customers expectations.”
The Bigster stands as the brand’s new flagship vehicle, embodying Dacia’s values of practicality, robustness, and affordability. David Durand, Dacia Design Vice President, added:
“Bigster is the ultimate expression of Dacia’s values, and is now the brand’s flagship vehicle.”
Design and Features
The Dacia Bigster impresses with its generous dimensions and geometric styling. Its robust design is accentuated by a vertical front end, typical of SUVs, giving it a commanding presence on the road. The front and rear skid plates are dyed in the mass, ensuring they are more durable and resistant to wear.
The standard alloy wheels come in 17- or 18-inch options, while a striking 19-inch wheel design is available with the Journey trim. For those seeking extra style, Dacia offers a two-tone finish with a black roof, a first for the brand, which highlights the vehicle’s sleek lines. The Indigo Blue body colour adds a fresh, premium touch to the Bigster’s look.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the high-mounted vertical dashboard increases space for front-seat passengers, enhancing comfort. The driver can access key information through a 7″ or 10″ digital instrument panel, depending on the trim. The 10.1″ central touchscreen, standard on all Bigster models, provides control over the multimedia system.
One of the new standout features is the choice of three centre console options: low, intermediate, or the high console with an armrest, which includes a cooler compartment, induction charger, and generous storage space.
The Powertrain: A Hybrid Revolution
The Dacia Bigster is the first vehicle in the Renault Group to feature the HYBRID 155 powertrain, a significant innovation combining a 107 bhp petrol engine with two electric motors. This hybrid system includes a 50 bhp electric motor, a high-voltage starter/generator, and a 1.4 kWh battery. The absence of a clutch, along with a four-gear ICE engine and two electric motor gears, allows for a smooth and efficient driving experience.
This HYBRID 155 powertrain builds on the existing HYBRID 140 range seen in the Duster and Jogger, offering an extra 15 bhp, more torque, and an increased towing capacity of around one tonne.
For those who prefer other configurations, buyers can choose between Bigster TCe 140, Bigster ECO-G 140, and Bigster TCe 130 4×4.
Future Availability
While Dacia has yet to announce the start date for orders and the price list, the Bigster is expected to attract significant attention from customers looking for a robust and versatile C-SUV. Additionally, two more vehicles will follow the Bigster, further expanding Dacia’s lineup.
The Bigster reaffirms Dacia’s place in the SUV market, offering a compelling combination of size, power, and affordability. Stay tuned for more updates as Dacia prepares to open orders for this highly anticipated model.
