OpenAI has unveiled a new Read Aloud feature for its official ChatGPT app, available on iPhone and iPad. This feature enables users to have the chatbot read responses aloud in one of five voice options.
To utilize this feature within the app, users simply need to tap and hold the chatbot’s text response and then select the Read Aloud option. Additionally, users have the ability to play, pause, or rewind the readout as needed. Notably, this feature is also accessible on the web version of ChatGPT, further enhancing voice-based interaction capabilities.
Read Aloud boasts compatibility with 37 languages and possesses auto-detection functionality to identify the language of the text being read. OpenAI emphasizes that this feature is designed to improve accessibility for individuals with visual impairments or reading difficulties, such as dyslexia. Moreover, the company anticipates that Read Aloud will enhance user engagement by providing a personalized interaction experience, while also serving as a valuable tool for language learning purposes.
