Porsche’s flagship electric vehicle, the Taycan, is undergoing a significant refresh for the 2025 model year. With a strong emphasis on improving driving range, performance, and fast-charging capabilities, the new Taycan will be available in two body styles: the sports sedan and the Cross Turismo wagon. Offering four powertrain options and both rear- and all-wheel drive variants, the Taycan range starts at $101,395 for the sedan and $113,095 for the Cross Turismo.

Key upgrades include the introduction of a Performance Battery Plus package featuring a 105kWh battery option, promising enhanced range and faster charging times. The Taycan aims to set a new standard for fast-charging EVs, boasting an impressive 80% charge in just 18 minutes, thanks to its 800-volt architecture and charging speeds of up to 320kW.

Efficiency gains come from various advancements, including a more powerful rear-axle motor, optimized software, upgraded batteries, improved thermal management, and a next-generation heat pump. Notably, recuperation capacity during deceleration has increased by over 30% to up to 400kW, while aerodynamically optimized wheels and reduced rolling resistance tyres further improve efficiency.
Performance remains a priority, with acceleration times significantly improved across all variants. The rear-wheel drive Taycan achieves 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, while the top-tier Turbo S sedan hits the mark in just 2.3 seconds, making it the fastest production car Porsche has ever offered.

Design updates include new headlights, taillights, and front fenders, alongside interior enhancements such as brushed aluminium door sill protectors and optional leather-free Race-Tex upholstery. Integration of Apple CarPlay and a new “In-Car Video” function add to the Taycan’s tech features.

Porsche’s commitment to electrification extends beyond the Taycan, with plans to introduce electric variants of its iconic models, including the Macan SUV, 718 two-seater, and Cayenne. With nearly 150,000 Taycans already produced, Porsche remains a frontrunner in the luxury EV market, paving the way for an electrified future.
