Ahold Delhaize, the global retail giant behind well-known brands like Mega Image in Romania, has expanded its tech footprint in the region with the inauguration of a new technology studio, AD/01, in Bucharest’s Timpuri Noi Square. Launched in April 2024, AD/01 is focused on driving digital innovation within the food retail industry, with the goal of enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency through advanced technology.

Expanding Technological Reach Across Europe
Currently, AD/01 is focused on streamlining and improving mobile applications for Ahold Delhaize’s retail brands across six European countries. New apps have already been successfully rolled out in Belgium, Luxembourg, Serbia, and the Czech Republic, with launches in Romania and Greece expected by the end of 2024. These mobile applications are designed to enhance shopping experiences by integrating personalized features, loyalty programs, and promotional offers, all driven by cutting-edge technology.
A Growing Tech Team
Since its inception, AD/01 has built a team of 80 IT specialists in Romania and is now looking to expand further. The company is seeking 30 additional professionals in key areas, including mobile app development, eCommerce, data analytics, and core retail solutions. Specific roles currently available include Full Stack Developer, Back-End Developer, Front-End Developer, Q.A. Automation Engineer, Network Security Engineer, Data Engineer, SAP Consultants, Platform Engineer, Business Analyst, Data Solution Architect, Business Controller, and more.
In line with its growth strategy, AD/01 aims to have a team of 250 employees by the end of 2025. The company’s hiring efforts reflect its ambition to lead digital transformation initiatives across Ahold Delhaize’s extensive portfolio of retail brands.
