SEE ICT (Startit), in collaboration with USAID and other partners, is organizing the GenHack Hackathon, a 48-hour event focused on generative AI, taking place from November 15 to 17 at the Startit Center in Belgrade. This is a unique opportunity for AI professionals to guide and mentor the next wave of talent in the field.
We are inviting all AI experts to join us as mentors, helping teams craft innovative solutions and ensuring they emerge from the hackathon with high-quality, practical outcomes. Mentors are expected to dedicate at least two hours of live mentoring, with the option to contribute more if inspired by the participants and projects. You can choose which day of the hackathon to participate in, making this a flexible yet impactful way to give back to the community.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are seeking professionals with a passion for AI and experience in machine learning and related fields, including:
- AI engineers, designers, product managers, and other specialists who have worked on AI-driven projects.
- People who are excited to transfer knowledge and help the next generation of AI innovators.
- Those who want to connect with a vibrant community of AI enthusiasts, including both participants and fellow mentors.
- Individuals based in Belgrade, available for a minimum of 2 hours during the weekend of November 15-17.
Your Role as a Mentor
As a mentor, your responsibilities include:
- Providing technical guidance to teams, helping them overcome challenges and fine-tune their solutions.
- Offering insight and advice on the direction and potential applications of their projects.
- Assisting teams in improving their presentation skills and the overall impact of their ideas.
- Sharing your industry experience to inspire and guide the teams toward success.
Selection Criteria for Mentors
We will evaluate mentor applications based on:
- Concrete experience in working on AI products.
- Years of experience and relevance to your field of expertise (development, design, product management, etc.).
- Proven knowledge transfer abilities.

Interested in becoming a mentor? Applications are open until November 6, and we will notify all applicants about the outcome by November 8, just a week before the hackathon kicks off.
