Samsung has officially announced the launch of the Galaxy Fit 3, marking its return to the fitness tracker market after a hiatus since the release of the Galaxy Fit 2 in October 2020. The previous model was celebrated for its sleek aesthetics, but the latest iteration, the Galaxy Fit 3, takes a leap towards a more watch-like appearance. It boasts a 45% increase in size over its predecessor and features a larger 1.6-inch display, allowing for a more expansive view to display content, including over 100 watch face presets. Users also have the option to personalize their device with any photo from their phone as the background.
The Galaxy Fit 3 is designed to withstand the elements, with an IP68 and 5ATM rating, ensuring it is dust and water-resistant up to a depth of 50 meters for up to 10 minutes. It steps up its game in health and fitness tracking by offering the ability to monitor over 100 different workouts, sleep patterns, and blood oxygen levels. For added safety, the device includes Fall Detection and Emergency SOS features, enabling it to contact emergency services if a fall is detected or by pressing the physical key on the side five times.
Enhancing its utility, the Galaxy Fit 3 can serve as a remote camera controller for a paired Galaxy smartphone and integrates with the phone’s Bedtime mode to minimize disturbances during sleep. It also includes a handy feature to locate a misplaced phone by pinging it from the tracker.
Despite its significantly larger display, the Galaxy Fit 3 promises an impressive battery life of up to 13 days—slightly less than the 15 days offered by the Fit 2. This longevity is attributed to its operation on a real-time operating system, which does not support Play Store access or third-party app installations, unlike devices running on Wear OS.
The Galaxy Fit 3 will be available for purchase starting February 23 in select markets, offered in gray, silver, and pink gold colour options. Pricing details are expected to be announced shortly.
