Once again, Apple Watch’s Crash Detection feature has been acknowledged for its life-saving capabilities. In Wisconsin, first responders credited the Apple Watch with automatically calling 911 and sharing the user’s precise location after they were involved in a crash on a Thursday morning.
According to the Kansasville Fire and Rescue Department’s Facebook post, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. The driver’s Apple Watch initiated an immediate call to first responders, ensuring a swift response.
In addition to the automatic 911 call, the Apple Watch transmitted the driver’s exact location to the rescue team. They found the vehicle upside down, approximately 100 feet away from the road. Although the driver was breathing, they were unresponsive, prompting first responders to request assistance from Flight for Life, a critical care air medical transport service.
Because of darkness and the distance from the roadway, if it wasn’t for the Apple Watch, the vehicle likely would not have been discovered for at least another two hours. Amazing technology that clearly impacted a person’s life.

The driver was stabilized and transported to Froedtert Hospital with serious injuries, where they continue to receive treatment and care.
Apple Watch’s Crash Detection feature operates by activating the Emergency SOS feature upon detecting a car crash. If the user does not respond to the notification, the iPhone or Apple Watch will automatically contact emergency services and share the user’s precise location with dispatchers, as demonstrated in this incident.
