OpenAI is currently introducing new beta features for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. These updates include the ability to upload and work with files, as well as support for multimodal capabilities. This means that users won’t need to manually select modes like “Browse with Bing” from a GPT-4 dropdown menu; the system will intelligently determine the context and adapt accordingly.
These new features bring some of the office-oriented functionalities found in the ChatGPT Enterprise plan to the standalone ChatGPT Plus subscription. While the specific multimodal update may not be available to everyone in the Plus plan, the Advanced Data Analysis feature appears to function as expected.
When you upload a file to ChatGPT, it takes a brief moment to process it before becoming ready to perform tasks such as summarizing data, answering questions, or generating data visualizations in response to prompts.
It’s worth noting that this chatbot isn’t limited to processing just text files. In a discussion on Threads, a user shared screenshots of a conversation in which they uploaded an image of a capybara and requested ChatGPT, with the assistance of DALL-E 3, to create a Pixar-style image based on it. They then continued refining the concept by uploading another image, this time of a wiggly skateboard, and asking the chatbot to include that image as well. Interestingly, it also added a hat to the skateboard image for some reason.
