The Serbian video game development scene has been growing steadily, and the latest addition to this vibrant industry is Godforged, a highly anticipated RPG from Tricoman Studios. This studio, founded by a group of passionate game developers, is set to captivate gamers around the world with their debut title. We spoke with Borislav Vesnić, CEO and co-founder of Tricoman Studios, to learn more about the team’s journey, challenges, and future plans.
The Birth of Tricoman Studios
Tricoman Studios was founded by Marko Ristić, Luka Budimir, and Luka Filipović five years ago when they joined the Nordeus Hub, a well-known incubator for aspiring game developers. With a shared love for RPGs and a vision to create immersive gaming experiences, they named the studio “Three Magicians,” later adapting it to Tricoman Studios for international audiences. Initially focused on developing mobile games to build financial stability and gain industry experience, they eventually shifted their focus back to their true passion—premium RPGs.
The team faced early challenges, particularly in securing funding for their ambitious RPG project, which started under the working title Massa. After a rebranding, Godforged was born. With support from local grants and investments totaling 110,000 euros, the studio was able to continue developing the game and create a demo that they will use to pitch to publishers and investors in 2025.
Godforged: A New RPG with Old-School Charm
Godforged follows in the footsteps of successful RPGs like Baldur’s Gate III, but with a smaller scale and real-time combat. The game is set in the world of Nelethar, a fantasy universe inspired by medieval Byzantine culture and Slavic folklore. The game’s main story is expected to offer around 10 hours of gameplay, with an additional 20 to 30 hours of content based on player decisions and character development. The development team aims to create a game that players will want to experience multiple times, offering different endings and storylines based on in-game choices.
Building a Strong Team
Today, Tricoman Studios is helmed by four key individuals: Marko Ristić as Chief Creative Officer, Luka Budimir as Chief Production Officer, Luka Filipović as Chief Technology Officer, and Borislav Vesnić as CEO and business development lead. In addition, they work with a network of advisors and partners, including Jason Schlar and Jay Powell, two veterans of the gaming industry. Tricoman also collaborates with Grand Beats for sound design, Xeldot for UX/UI, and Wolves Peak Studio for 3D assets.
Overcoming Challenges
The development of Godforged has not been without its difficulties. Securing sufficient funding and building a demo that will attract major investors remains a challenge. However, the team is optimistic. They are currently focusing on developing a polished demo to present to potential investors by March 2025. If successful, Godforged could enter Early Access by the second half of 2026, with a full release expected by late 2027.
Early Success on Steam
Despite being in its early stages, Godforged is already gaining traction. After showcasing their game at Gamescom 2024, Tricoman Studios received over 2,000 wishlists on Steam—a promising indicator of the game’s potential. The team is committed to refining the game based on player feedback, ensuring that Godforged delivers a memorable experience.
The Future of Tricoman Studios
Looking ahead, Tricoman Studios aims to grow both the team and the Godforged franchise. With plans to expand their RPG universe into a trilogy, they hope to eventually explore other media, including animated series and licensing opportunities. For now, their focus is on securing the funding needed to complete the game and bringing the best possible experience to RPG fans worldwide.
