Samsung’s recent updates for Galaxy devices have led to a troubling display issue for some users. After installing the April 2024 security patch on Android 14, a number of Galaxy smartphone models are exhibiting a persistent green line on their screens. Reports highlighted by Android Authority identify the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S21 Ultra as affected models. Additionally, SamMobile has noted similar problems occurring on several other devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 3, A73, M21, and M52 5G.
The green line does not appear to affect the functionality of the devices but remains a constant and distracting presence on the display when it is active. Such issues are not only bothersome but can also evoke concern, as they resemble the type of damage typically seen in physically broken screens.
Currently, the exact cause of the green line phenomenon is unknown. It seems to be linked to the software update, although similar problems in the past have often been related to hardware faults within the display. This raises fears that, should this not merely be a software glitch, affected users might need to seek out screen replacements, potentially causing significant inconvenience.
Issues with green lines on displays are not new for Samsung devices, with similar incidents reported following previous updates. Samsung has not yet issued a statement regarding this issue, but further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
