The Croatian Institute for Cyber Security (HIKS) is excited to announce the eighth edition of the Cyber Security Conference (CSC 24), an internationally recognized event focused on addressing the latest trends and challenges in cyber security. This year, the conference will take place on October 9-10, 2024, at the Vikarijat Congress Center in Osijek, with the primary theme centering on “Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security.”
Organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technologies Osijek, ATOS, ATO Inženjering, and the Center for a Safer Internet, CSC 24 promises to bring together top experts from the IT industry, academia, and the business sector to explore the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and cyber defense. The event’s general sponsor, INsig2, is a leader in digital forensics and cyber security in Croatia.
Conference Highlights: AI and Cybersecurity Synergy
The growing complexity of cyber threats and the increasing role of AI technologies in countering these threats will be at the forefront of CSC 24’s agenda. Attendees can expect a packed program featuring renowned speakers, panel discussions, and workshops designed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among the cyber security community.
Keynote presentations will be delivered by industry leaders, including:
- Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Stjepan Picek from Radboud University, The Netherlands, who will discuss “Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity: A Perfect Pair?“
- Flavio Di Cosmo, with his lecture titled “Unveiling the Next Frontier: Emerging AI-Driven Cyber Threats and Defense Strategies.“
In addition to these keynotes, a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Payment of Ransom – YES or NO?” will be moderated by Bruno Pavić, sparking debate on a critical issue facing organizations today.
Focus on Education and Child Safety
The second day of the conference, October 10, will focus on technical and educational content, with a particular emphasis on the safety of children in the digital age. Organized by the Center for Missing and Abused Children, this day will feature five lectures and a panel aimed at educational workers and professionals who work with children and young people.
Sessions will explore the creative impact of AI on children, as well as potential security threats such as revenge pornography and other forms of abuse facilitated by emerging technologies. The use of AI in prosecuting criminal offenses committed against children will also be discussed, alongside the legal and security measures necessary to protect vulnerable populations online.
Experts speaking on this day include:
- Irena Rojnić Palavra, a psychiatrist specializing in addiction treatment
- Zlatan Morić, head of the cyber security department at Algebra University
- Denis Rukavina, a police officer specializing in cyber crime
- Stephanie Stelko, an award-winning journalist from HRT
- Ines Bojić, a lawyer with significant experience in victim protection cases
This educational day will provide a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences, raising awareness of the dangers and benefits of AI in safeguarding children’s well-being online.
